TANZER 16 Formerly called the "Constellation" this outstandingly successful and versatile family day-sailer/racing sloop was designed by Johann Tanzer specifically for those seeking a high performace hull that also provides comfort, stability and safety. The unusually large cockput easily accomodates a family group of six sith stowage space to spare in the after locker and on the platform under the fore- deck. The generous beam and low centre of gravity give her great stability. High freeboard and wide side-decks keep the boat dry and the small fry in the cockpit. The built-in fiberglass buoyancy tanks are also filled with foam, as an added precaution. These provide vitally impor- tant positive flotation to support boat, crew and gear. Simple to rig and handle, well balanced, and light enough to launch and trail easily, the standard TANZER 16 is ideally suited to the beginner sailor. WIth the addition of the racing kit, this lively family day sailer becomes a fast, one-design sloop for competitive class racing. The high sail area to weight ratio allows her to plane readily, and she points as high as most outright racing boats. Class Associations to control specifications, and to promote the continued frowth of the class are ope- rating in Canada and the United States. Designed abd built with meticulous attention, to detail and finish, the TANZER 16 is a truly versitile, high quality centerboarder with performance to satisfy both the experien- ced skipper and the beginner.
